Pyruvate, a natural by-product of metabolism, is also found in certain foods, primarily fruits and vegetables. Pyruvate is generated in the human body when glucose (a six-carbon molecule) yields two molecules of pyruvate (a three carbon molecule), or more specifically, pyruvic acid. Two potential mechanisms by which pyruvate enhances both fat and weight loss are through increasing metabolism and fat utilization.
