R-Alpha Lipoic Acid Details
|
Regenerates both itself and other essential antioxidants Alpha lipoic acid (ALA), known as the universal antioxidant, is present in almost all the tissues of the body. The naturally produced R-form of ALA is a powerful and potent antioxidant. NSI R-Alpha Lipoic Acid has been found to be remarkably well-absorbed by the body. ALA plays an important role in generating energy from food and oxygen in mitochondria (the cells power plants). ALA also provides protective benefits against oxidative processes involved in degenerative diseases and premature aging. ALA is both water- and fat-soluble. Therefore, it can easily cross cell membranes, and as a result, both interior and exterior cellular structures are given optimal free radical protection. ALA is an antioxidant that regenerates both itself and other essential antioxidants, such as vitamins C and E, and coenzyme Q10. ALA also increases levels of the antioxidant glutathione, which is found in the brain. Insufficient levels of glutathione have been linked to the increased risk of stroke, dementia, Parkinsons and Alzheimers disease. ALA has also been found to promote liver health. And, in several studies, it has been proven to promote healthy nerve function in diabetic patients who have used 600 mg 1,200 mg per day.
