Unlike the water-soluble form, which does not stay in the body for long periods of time, ascorbyl palmitate is stored in cell membranes, providing a ready, highly bioavailable source of this important nutrient. Vitamin C plays a part in many important body functions, including:. Collagen production (important for the maintenance of healthy skin and connective tissue). Iron and calcium absorption.
