Niacinate Details
|
It is Inositol Hexaniacinate (IHN,) sometimes called Inositol Hexanicotinate. It is a variation of Niacin, Vitamin B3. It contains 600 mg Inositol Hexaniacinate which is equivalent to 540 mg of Niacin. Inert ingredients include cellulose, stearic acid, silica and magnesium stearate.
An essential B vitamin. Lack of Niacin causes the disease, Pellegra. Large doses are used in treating hypercholesterolemia (high blood cholesterol) as it lowers bad cholesterol and raises good cholesterol. Niacin also lowers triglycerides.
It is superior to ordinary niacin as it does not cause the usual niacin side effects such as flushing, itching, heat and redness in the skin. Nor does it cause the liver damage that high doses of Niacin can cause. If a physician has prescribed Niacin, it might be advisable to discuss changing to Niacinate.
