How Does NSI® L-Tryptophan work? L-tryptophan is an essential amino acidmeaning the body does not produce it on its own; it must be obtained through diet. It's found in small amounts in nuts, grains, beans, legumes, cheese, eggs, and meat. L-tryptophan breaks down into four different metabolites in the body. Most notably, it's converted to 5-HTP, which is then converted to serotonina neurotransmitter that helps regulate mood, sleep and appetite. Supplementing with L-tryptophan may help raise serotonin levels, promoting better mood, relaxation and rest.
