How does NSI® Gamma E Tocopherol Complex work? Gamma tocopherol is a member of the vitamin E family. Vitamin E is not one molecule but is rather composed of a family of eight related compounds known as tocopherols and tocotrienols. Gamma tocopherol has been shown to have potent antioxidant properties. In particular, it works to scavenge two of the most damaging free radicals-nitrogen dioxide (a major constituent of vehicle exhaust and cigarette smoke) and peroxynitrate (formed by active white blood cells in the body). The formation of both of these compounds triggers the inflammatory response in the body. Inflammation may contribute to a variety of health concerns involving immune, cardiovascular and neurological function. Gamma tocopherol is also believed to play a part in cardiovascular health by reducing the oxidation of fat and low-density lipoproteins in the blood.
