How Does NSI® Femalgen™ Bladder Support work? Femalgen™ is a cutting-edge, natural bladder-support formula made from a unique combination of pumpkin seeds and soybean germ extracts. Femalgen™ has been clinically shown to contribute to healthy, normal bladder function and control¹. A seven-week open clinical trial on 39 postmenopausal women (ages 52 to 86), showed that supplementing with pumpkin seed and soybean germ extracts improved frequency of urination (both during the day and at night) after the first week, with continued improvement the second week. Frequency of urinary incontinence was improved at week 2, with marked improvement after the fourth week. The use of pumpkin seed for urinary tract support dates back to the 16th century. Today, the beneficial effects are attributed to various seed components including linoleic acid, oleic acid, palmitic acid, stearic acid, carotenoids, tocopherols and phytosterols. Pumpkin seeds also contain lignans and phenols, which like soy, belong to the family of phytoestrogens. Soybean germ extract, the second key ingredient in Femalgen™, is extracted from soybeans. It's commonly known that soy is a phytoestrogenor a chemical produced by plants that acts similarly to the human hormone estrogen. Phytoestrogens are believed to affect various areas of growth and development, as well as cardiovascular, reproductive, behavioral and metabolic health. Some women report relief from discomforts associated with late-stage menstrual health when supplementing with phytoestrogens.
